Let the peace of God Control Your Mind
There is a man in the in the scripture whose name is Peter. He was arrested and put in prison for sharing his faith. Everything went against him. King Agrippa had already killed his friend James. Peter was locked in the deepest part of the dungeon, waiting to be brought to trial the next day. He knew his life was about to be over soon. Peter had all the reasons to be worried, panicked, pacing the floor, but he did the opposite. He stays calm and fell asleep. The scripture says while Peter was sleeping, an angel came, woke him up and set him free. How could he be sleeping knowing the next day he could lose his life? Peter understood this principle: worries was not going to change anything to his situation. Instead he choose to stay in peace, knowing God is in control.
Just like Peter, you can face problems beyond your control or dealing with negative thoughts, fear, and anxiety, feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of life. The message today is from 2 Timothy 1:7 that said: Let the peace of God control your mind!
It's easy to feel overwhelmed when dealing with addiction, with lack or depression. It’s easy to be worried the person you love just walked away or when you don’t know how you’re going to pay those bills. With the pressures of daily life, fear and anxiety can easily take hold of your minds. However, 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has given us the strength to overcome these negative thoughts. By relying on His power and love, we can find peace and stability in our minds.
In this passage, The verse reads: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." This reminds us that we have been given the gift of a sound mind to live positive, peaceful and joyful. It encourages us to trust in God's power and love, allowing Him to control our thoughts and emotions.
How can you let the peace of God control your mind?
The best approach is to feed your mind with hope, faith and gratitude. Praise God for all the good things in your life by saying: "Father, thank you for another beautiful day. Thank you that I'm alive. Thank you for my family. Thank you for good health. Lord, I'm excited about this day".
The Bible encourages us to renew our minds with the truth of God's word. By meditating on His promises and filling our minds with positive, uplifting thoughts, we can push out fear and negativity. To do so, repeat throughout the day:
“Father, I know your plan for me is good! I have the grace I need for today. Thank you Lord for filling me with power, strength, and determination. Thank you for helping me overcome every obstacle, outlast every challenge, and come through every difficulty better off than I was before. Teach me to forgive as you forgave me, in Jesus’s name. Amen!
